HARRIET MARY FLETCHER COOPER
DOB:   1886
DOD:      JUNE 1967

PROFESSION: TEACHER - DEGREE FROM NEBRASKA AND BERKLEY

OTHER INFO:

Her father died when she was only two years old.
For further info on her ancestory, refer to the family tree document, FLETCHER.

Harriet was my Grandmother. Both she and my grandfather were highly educated, overcoming difficult odds.

She was an avid fan of Charles Dickens. You can read about her early life with my grandfather on the
farm in Biggs on my dad's page.

The tough economy of those times led her and my grandfather to physically seperate
in the search for employment to support the family.

She wound up teaching school in the back-areas of California, a pioneer-like
school teacher.

From the moment I can remember, she would spend hours
reading to me my favorite stories. At a little older age in my youth,

I would spend the summers with her at her home in Trabucco Canyon
(really back-woods then) & we would spend hours on end playing Chess, etc.

As a young adult in need of a new car, she loaned me $600 without interest
which I paid back within a year.

It was with great sorrow that we lost her in 1967, after which we buried her
Bishop, Ca, alongside my grandfather, who she loved throughout it all.
